Let Them Eat Cake!

7th November 2014

There are many traditions associated with the wedding cake, but today more than ever the bride and groom to be have more choice and variety when it comes to choosing their just dessert. Here’s a list of some of the options out there:

Traditional tiered cake – it’s a classic for a reason and what’s perfect about this option is that you can customise it in your own unique way. You can have as many layers as you want and each can be a different flavour! The options are endless with this type of cake. You can customise the look by using colours and motifs used elsewhere in your wedding, go as formal or informal as you like, you can even have a naked cake (one without frosting) – which looks great at a Wedfest themed wedding! Colour, shape and design can be completely led by you and your vision, so the traditional doesn’t have to mean boring.

Cupcakes – these have become increasingly popular in recent years. Not only do they look great, but they really fit in with a more relaxed, country bunting themed wedding. Your guests are bound to adore their individual dessert and appreciate the special touch of having their own piece of wedding cake to indulge in. Don’t feel as though you have to miss out on cutting the cake should you go with this option; you can always have a small cake to go alongside the cupcakes so you can still get great pics for the album.

Savoury cakes – for those who don’t particularly enjoy sweet treats or can’t eat them, there’s always the option of a cake made from savoury foods. This option is definitely for the couple that want something a little different and would look great as a centre piece for a Vintage Typewriter inspired wedding. Picture if you will rounds of cheese stacked up on top of each other, adorned with grapes and ivy, or how about a tiered pork pie cake! Don’t feel as though you have to be restricted to rules on your big day, there are plenty of options out there to meet whatever your needs are, even if that is to have a showstopper that all your guests will be talking about after the party!
