Real Wedding at The Ned London: Michael & Amber’s Dark Romantic Celebration
16th April 2026
When Michael and Amber came to us to design their wedding stationery, we knew this one was going to be special. A wedding at The Ned London — that iconic former Midland Bank building in the heart of the City — already sets the scene beautifully. Add in The Blume Studio’s extraordinary floral vision and a colour palette we were completely obsessed with, and honestly, we’ve been waiting to share these images by Emma Kenny Weddings ever since.
The Blume Studio built the entire scheme around deep, jewel-toned reds and a dusty grey-blue that stopped the whole thing from ever feeling too heavy or expected. Thistles were woven throughout the florals, which gave everything this wonderful wild, slightly gothic texture. The fireplace arrangements in particular — those cascading deep red blooms against white marble — were jaw-dropping. It’s the kind of styling that makes you stop scrolling.
For their stationery, Michael and Amber chose our Baroque Noir collection, but worked with us to shift the colourway to suit their day. This is genuinely one of our favourite parts of the process — taking a signature design and making it feel completely specific to one couple. In its original form Baroque Noir leans dark and dramatic, but by bringing in those deep reds and soft ivory tones, the whole suite ended up feeling like it had been designed alongside the florals from the very start. Which, in a way, it was — we always recommend couples loop in their florist and stationer at the same time for exactly this reason.
The full suite ran from the welcome sign at the entrance through to the seating plan, table numbers, menus and personalised place cards. Every piece used the same ornate typography and framing that the collection is known for. Photographed against the jewel-toned charger plates from Maison Margaux, the dusty blue-grey linen napkins, and all that glittering crystal, the stationery really came into its own. It’s one of those suites where the individual pieces are beautiful, but together on the table they’re something else entirely.
The rooftop portraits with St Paul’s in the background are worth lingering on too — Amber in that sleek, structured gown with a cathedral-length train, Michael in a classic black tux. The whole day had this tension between grand and intimate that’s genuinely rare to pull off, and these two did it effortlessly.
If you’re planning a wedding at a big London venue and looking for stationery that can hold its own against serious architecture and serious florals, the Baroque Noir collection — in its original form or tweaked to your palette — might be exactly what you’re after. Come and find us, we’d love to chat.
