What is a Styled Shoot? Unlocking the Magic Behind Your Wedding Stationery Inspiration

5th November 2025

You may have heard the term “styled shoot” popping up everywhere on social media while planning your dream wedding, and wondered what the hype is all about. Is it a real wedding? Is it just for inspiration?

As a wedding stationery designer, I’m here to demystify this exciting corner of the wedding world and take you behind the scenes of one particularly breathtaking shoot that truly set my creative spirit soaring!

The Ultimate Collaboration for Wedding Design Ideas

So, what exactly is a styled shoot? In short, it’s where a dedicated team of wedding suppliers – the best in the industry – come together to collaboratively create a mock wedding day.

Usually organised and meticulously overseen by a talented wedding planner or wedding photographer, these sessions are a dream playground for creativity. The team involves everyone who makes a wedding magical: florists, cake makers, décor hire companies, models, hair & makeup artists, and yes- us! -supplying the bespoke wedding stationery.

The goal isn’t to stage a real event, but to push the boundaries of design, create fresh wedding inspiration, and showcase the immense talent of all involved. They give couples like you a tangible look at what’s possible for your own luxury wedding stationery and wedding reception details.

Behind the Scenes: A Romantic, Neo-Classical Dream Shoot

This particular luxury wedding styled shoot, organised by Concept & Floral Design @bureaubotany with Creative Direction & Styling @blondearmy, really stood out to me. The minute I saw the vision board, I couldn’t resist being involved.

Shot at the pivotal moment that Bows broke into the stationery world, the entire aesthetic was a masterclass in soft, sophisticated romance with a playful, modern edge.

The Scene: Softness and Light

The setting itself was awash in light, draped elegantly with flowing, sheer fabrics that created a serene, ethereal atmosphere – the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding. This soft canvas allowed the tablescape décor to truly shine.

Hanging crystal chandeliers added a touch of neo-classical grandeur, creating dramatic sparkle above the tables. The combination of black bentwood chairs with crisp, neutral linen tablecloths grounded the design, balancing the delicate elements with structured elegance.

The Florals and Detailing

The floral design was absolutely key to setting the mood. We saw bursts of delicate pastel florals – soft pinks, creamy peaches, and fresh yellows – mixed with wild, structural greenery cascading down the ends of the table and around the base. The arrangements felt organic and abundant, like they were growing right out of the floor.

Perhaps the most unique styling element was the use of pears and other fruits woven into the centrepieces and placed on the tables. Pears, tied with soft pink ribbon and adorned with pearl strings, added a tactile, luxurious, and slightly unexpected texture to the design. A beautiful champagne tower was also decorated with the same stunning fruit elements.

Our Stationery Contribution: More Than Just an Invitation

This is where our bespoke wedding stationery came into its own. The styling called for unique wedding invitations and on-the-day pieces that were far from standard rectangles.

We embraced the vision by designing playful stationery pieces that included:

Die-Cut Menus: Rather than a standard square, we designed menus with beautiful scalloped and arched edges, cut into unique shapes for an instantly elevated feel.

Pattern and Texture: We used soft, wide pink stripes on the menus to create visual interest.

Ribbon Detailing: Many pieces were tied with elegant ribbons. Most notably, the place cards (were designed as small, dark ribbons, placed over the menu card, featuring the guest’s name – a chic way to create personalised wedding details that guests could take home.

Table Numbers: The wedding table numbers featured a custom, whimsical frame design that highlighted the soft sage green wedding colour palette used throughout the design.

Styled shoots are a dream playground for creativity and inspiration and this one was no exception! It perfectly demonstrates how investing in custom wedding stationery can bring a cohesive, tactile narrative to your entire wedding aesthetic.
